Skills that turn a lake into a livelihood

Bunyonyi Safaris Skills Institute was established as our social contribution: training community youth and women so they can tap into the tourism and hospitality industry that surrounds them.

Why we exist

Tourism money should stay in the community it comes from

Thousands of visitors come to Lake Bunyonyi every year. Too often, the skilled jobs they create are filled from Kampala. We built the Institute to change that arithmetic: train the young people and the women who already live on these hills, to a standard employers cannot argue with.

Every programme is examined and awarded by the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB), so the certificate our graduates carry is recognised nationally and meets national quality standards.

And every student trains inside a working, UTB-certified 4-star resort — real kitchens, real guests, real check-ins, real complaints to recover. Entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism development run through both programmes, because many of our graduates go on to start something of their own.

    Train as a professional in kitchen, food and beverage service, housekeeping and front office — inside a working 4-star resort.
